On the 7th of May 2026 the PI Giulia Lombardi delivered a lecture at the University of Winterthur dedicated to the topic of implicit language and its role in communication. The presentation explored how meaning is often conveyed beyond explicit words, through context, shared knowledge, inference, and pragmatic interpretation. Particular attention was given to the ways speakers and writers rely on implicit strategies to shape understanding, persuasion, and interaction across different communicative settings. The lecture also addressed the relevance of implicit language in contemporary linguistic research and its impact on intercultural and professional communication.
